A different and charming way of seeing the countryside, during vacations, that almost seems a part of an era long past is by traveling by train. During the early years of the century a journey by train travel was the usual way of seeing the countryside, but in today’s jet age very few people travel by train like they did before. It is only those, still lucky enough to ride a train, who can appreciate the beauty of the landscape.

You could watch cows in the fields as travel, while having drinks served to your taste. Most major cities in the US are provided train service by Amtrak. The Amtrak passenger travels in the utmost comfort.

European locations are invariably better connected by the railway system. Most people in Europe travel by buying a Euro rail pass, or Brit rail while traveling through UK. By buying a Euro rail pass you are guaranteed unlimited train travel throughout Europe. College kids having a Euro rail pass pack a backpack with few basics, and hit the track.

You could take a train to Paris, spend the day visit the Eiffel tower apart from other tourist spots, and catch a train in the evening, sleep in peace only to depart when you are done with traveling. If you are on the right train, at the right time, you could be in the South of France, even San Rafael, St. Tropez or Nice.

Once you are done, flash your Euro rail pass and hop onto the train again to Amsterdam, visiting Holland’s biggest and greatest city. Having lived it up in Amsterdam, board the train again heading towards Germany, possible down south towards Bavaria. Drop by Munich and feast on its wonderful heritage. Peep into the Olympic Village; and hope that you are lucky to visit during the renowned Bavarian beer fest, so you can have a blast.

A train journey offers a relaxing and unique experience, be it in Europe or America, like no other transport can even compare with. A train is as luxurious as your home, with delicious food at your service from the dining car, friendly people for company, a variety of cultures to learn, to top it all you are being chauffeur-driven. A train journey could truly be an experience by itself.

An outdoor wedding in a garden is a wonderful location choice for your big day. With a little hard work and some help from Mother Nature, your wedding can be as beautiful as the one in your dreams. Here are a few tips to make it even more so and help you on you way to an unforgettable event.

One option is to have your wedding ceremony in the evening so your guests can enjoy the beauty a garden flower affords and with the reception held in the oncoming dusk, you have an opportunity to show off your favorite parts of the flower garden with lighting. Strings of white lights hung in smaller trees and shrubbery add luster to the affair and solar panel stake lights can light the way down pathways to help you navigate your guests to food or dance areas. Have ushers in attendance to help older guests to the bathroom and back to their seats.

Having your reception out of doors saves your budget on food as you grill for hungry guests. For larger weddings, have several grills set up and dedicate one to children’s favorites like hamburgers and hot dogs. Volunteers from friends or family can cook or you can hire professional grillers for your reception. This is less expensive than you would think and much less expensive than having the entire reception catered. You will afford your guests freshly cooked food, right off the grill.

Sound carries better at night and a live band will afford more quality than a D J. Make sure to have the band set up as far away from the food area as possible to avoid too much traffic in one area. A patch of grassy lawn makes the perfect dance floor or you can have one made from wood and linoleum that is fairly inexpensive. Surround you band and dance area with round tables and reserve a long rectangular table for the bride and groom and the wedding party. These tables are the perfect place to present your guests with spring wedding favors or garden wedding favors.

Most weddings have up to a year of preparation time so plan your garden accordingly. Cover less desirable areas with wildflowers; which are inexpensive and will grow in shade or sun. This will keep your guests out of trouble spots and children can be occupied by making bouquets from these as they are easily replaced.

Lakes and ponds are beautiful and inviting but do not be tempted to set up your reception too close. Large bodies of water are bug fests and mosquitoes and snakes love a good party. Protect your guests by putting some distance between you and water. Spay for bugs a day or two before the event and set up a barrier with a line of citronella candles. Certain flowers also repel mosquitoes and your region might support this so check with your local Department of Parks and Recreations for a list.

A makeshift wishing well is the perfect opportunity to get your guests to participate. As they arrive, have the ushers give each guest two shiny pennies and inform them they can make a wishing well wish. Let them know that one penny is for good wishes for the bride and groom and one is for them. You can then set up a camera and microphone so you can make a video of your well-wisher’s sentiments.

Jim Gibbs is the retired President and founder of Gibbs Landscape Company, one of Atlanta’s leading landscape companies for more than 40 years. He and his company are the recipient of more than 250 awards. Mr. Gibbs began his career after graduating from The University of Georgia in 1965 with a B.S. Degree and a major in horticulture and a minor in landscape architecture. Ceremonies to present two of his national landscape awards were held at gala White House receptions. Gibbs Gardens is the perfect setting for that special day in the life of a bride and groom. They have several sites appropriate for the ceremony and tented receptions.

Traveling alone can be scary. However, if you appear confident when you travel, you won’t have a problem. Many people travel alone and so can you. All you have to do is decide that you want to travel alone and go for it.

Some ways to create confident while travelling alone:

Hold your head up high: If you walk with your head down, you won’t appear to have confidence when you travel alone. Stand up straight and square your shoulders. Act like a traveler and not a tourist!

Look people in the eye: Make eye contact with people, it will make you appear confident while travelling alone. It says, “I’m aware of my surroundings.” You want to look people in the eye and not turn away from them, especially if you’re a foreigner in a foreign land.

Act like you know the area: If it’s your first time traveling alone, act like a ‘seasoned’ traveler. Walk into stores and restaurants as if you’ve been there before. Relax and enjoy your travels.

Speak to people: Don’t be afraid to speak to people and ask them to point you in the right direction if you’re lost. Most importantly, don’t ‘freak out’ if you are lost. Act nonchalant and know that you’ll find your way. Also, speaking to locals is a great way to find out about the latest restaurants and night life. Areas change all of the time, and the locals will know what’s happening in the area.

Read about your destination before you leave: You don’t have to know everything about your destinations but it’s important to know the basics like history. It’s important to know about these histories so you don’t say something that could potentially start a heated discussion.

Traveling alone can be scary but it can be freeing. Once you travel alone, you won’t stop traveling. Start traveling throughout your own state/country by yourself until you feel truly confident to travel internationally by yourself.

It is likely that you often see people rolling suitcases around especially in the airport or, if you live in an urban area, you probably see quite a few people rolling their briefcases to work. Telescoping hand carts are an essential tool for those who cannot manage carrying heavy loads but nevertheless have quite a lot to carry around with them. Regardless of whether you plan on taking a long or short trip, any kind of case that comes equipped with telescoping handles is a necessary tool for anyone who can’t handle the strain of lifting and lugging heavy bags around.

New mothers may become overwhelmed with all that they must carry around for their babies. Indeed, any parent can easily become stressed due to all of their newly acquired material responsibilities. It may become impossible to keep track of a collection of luggage when traveling with the family, and rolling suitcases can make life easier for everyone, all of the time. Even if you do not plan on traveling with your young children anytime soon, having a cart on wheels will make a simple trip to the grocery store a million times easier.

Going on vacation can be most fun for kids, so parents would not want to put off family fun time because of the obstacle created by hard-to-carry luggage. If you have an especially young child or infant, keeping track of extra bags can become all the more difficult. As a parent, you’ll likely find yourself not only keeping track of your children, but all of their possessions too. Keeping everything in order is much more difficult if you’re taking a plane to your final destination. Packing snacks, entertainment and essentials and keeping track of it all are quite a task if it cannot all be contained by a car.

To make air travel easier on your kids, let them pack their own suitcase, but ensure that it is light enough for them to carry or wheel on their own. And since you may be the one who ends up carrying all of the kids’ suitcases, make sure that you can easily transport them. Help your children pack. They will likely want to do it themselves, but often won’t be able to discern what is essential for the trip and what is not. You do not want to end up at the beach with no bathing suits or at the slopes without skis. Look out for their best interests. If your children are very small, you will have to do the packing yourself.

When you search online for a cheap bed and breakfast or hotel, it’s easy to find directories or search engine listings with special offers. There are vouchers and deals galore, some offering free nights if you stay a week and others giving a free breakfast with the hotel room. Despite all the hundreds of offers available, it’s very easy to pick poor accommodation. If you haven’t researched the business properly, or if there are no reviews which show the true state of the rooms, then it can be too late as you find out on arrival that things are not of a good standard.

In the last few decades the quality of budget hotels has increased dramatically, as the British follow the North American view-point of naming and shaming, or at least complaining, if the standards we receive are bad. The elements we tend to use when judging hotel rooms and service is varied, and differ from person to person. The most common ones are the cleanliness of the bed, floor and shower or bath. Then we also rate highly the level of decor trim, such as the curtains, bedding and wardrobe units. The old-fashioned pub style floral curtains and carpet are not accepted well like they were 20 years ago.

The food provided, whether we have to pay or it’s included in the room rate, is also an important factor. Simple things like clean cutlery and good quality bread, meat and vegetables are high on the agenda for rating purposes. When choosing a budget hotel try to find out what other people have said about the overall standards. After you have visited a cheap hotel, be sure to leave a comment letting others know how good or bad the experience has been.

Rome is one of the best-loved and most beautiful tourist destinations in the world and a visit to this city will give tourists a chance to visit some of the best museums, architectural wonders, churches and parks in Europe. If you are travelling to Rome with young children or elderly people, it is important to keep in mind any special needs they may have. This is especially important when choosing accommodation in Rome. There are many hotels across the city that are suitable for children that have many extra facilities like children’s beds, play areas and day care centres or nannies available.

Another factor to consider when travelling with families is food. While there are a number of restaurants around Rome that cater to different budgets and provide excellent meals, you may have to do some research before hand on the different types of restaurants near your hotel if you are travelling with children or with elderly people who have special dietary requirements. It might also be a good idea to find a hotel or vacation rental that allows self catering. The main attractions in Rome are architectural in nature, and when travelling with children, it is a good idea to plan the day ahead of time. Visiting the tourist attractions early in the morning, or at times when the crowds are smaller is a good idea, since it will allow you more time to enjoy the sights while not getting caught up with the many groups of people.

When you are choosing accommodation for a family holiday, it is also a good idea to stay in a place that has easy access to a number of attractions, which will allow you to cut down on travel time. Some of the most important sites in Rome are the Spanish Steps, the Coliseum, the Pantheon, the Campi dei Fiori, the Piazza Navona, Saint Peter’s Basilica and the Roman Forum. In addition to this, there are many museums and galleries across the city. Visitors to Rome will also be able to enjoy the many concerts, shows and theatrical displays put up from time to time.

There fore, before participating in any Eco-friendly tour programme, check out some handy tips, cited as follows: Avoid picking up or playing with marine animals. Avoid ordering sea foods caught using destructive methods such fish bombing, drift net fishing and cyanide poisoning. Try out the environment friendly water-sports like sailing, surfing, scuba diving and snorkeling in pollution free area. Know how to avoid disturbing marine lives and do collect dead specimens on the beach and not in the water.
