Broome – The Best Destination for You

Saturday, December 29th, 2012

Broome is a beautiful town which is located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. It is a popular tourist destination, thanks to its stunning scenery, warm climate and historic buildings. This article takes a look at some of the best things to see and do in Broome.

Things to See

No trip to Broome is complete without a visit to the stunning Cable Beach. Cable Beach is over 22 km long, and it was voted one of the top five beaches in the world. During the summer months it is safe to swim in the sea, but take care during the months of May to November, when box jellyfish can be present in the water. At sunset, you can take a camel ride along the beach. Other popular beaches in Broome include Riddell Beach and Roebuck Bay.

Broome is famous for its pearls. Visitors can go to one of the many pearl farms that are dotted along the coast. There are also plenty of pearl jewelry shops and souvenir shops located in Chinatown. You can even pick a fresh oyster and have a jeweler break it open for you, if you are lucky you may find treasure inside!

Shopaholics will adore Broome’s Courthouse Market. The market is the largest in the Kimberley region, and it features plenty of local arts and crafts products. The Courthouse Market is located on the corner of Frederick and Hamersley St, and it is open every Saturday.

In order to get the most out of your trip, you should first go the Broome Visitors Information centre. The staff will be able to advise you on what activities and events are on during your visit. The Broome Visitors Centre is located on the corner of Bagot Street and Broome Highway.

Where to Eat

Broome has dining options to suit all tastes and budgets. There are over 50 different food establishments in the area, from small cafes and delis to large restaurants. Traditional aussie fare can be found in one of the bars and grills, but there are also plenty of international options including Thai, Chinese and Japanese restaurants. Broome has a number of supermarkets where you will be able to stock up on snacks and drinks when you are planning a trip to the beach.

Getting Around

Broome has its own international airport which is located less than a mile away from the city centre. It offers frequent services to several of the large towns and cities in Australia, including Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

The Greyhound Bus service stops at Broome Visitors Information Centre. Local buses have stops throughout the city centre and in some of the suburbs. There are also taxi’s available for hire. If you are spending a longer amount of time in Broome, then you may want to hire a rental car, this will give you the freedom to explore Broome at your own pace.

When to Buy Travel Insurance

Monday, January 21st, 2008

Since you can buy both your plane or cruise tickets online as well as travel insurance, it is a pretty simple matter to purchase the travel insurance at the same time. This will give you the best coverage. But if you insist on buying offline, then you will want to talk to your insurance provider or travel agent about your options. They will help you get your travel insurance bought and activated before you are ready to leave on your trip. Keep in mind that waiting too long to do this could result in problems if you end up having to cancel your trip for any reason.

Another good reason to buy your travel insurance at the same time as booking the trip is that you will remember. Its a simple thing to cross that extra task off your list and make sure that you are relaxed, well, more relaxed, for the remaining time before your trip. There really is something to be said for the peace of mind that comes from taking care of all those niggling little details nice and early. Avoiding the stress of last minute trip planning is always a good idea and not just for travel insurance! Getting your packing and extra shopping for the trip done early will help you out, too. In fact, its a good idea to try and get those last couple of days to be free. Anything that is really last minute is open to mistakes, so try to finish up early.
